A person with an abundance mindset focuses on the limitless opportunities available in business and life. They choose to focus on the positive things in their life rather than the negative things.

Someone with an abundance mindset is grateful, happier, and more creative.  An abundant mindset also helps people deepen relationships, attract greater opportunities, and create memorable experiences.

Someone with an abundant mentality is an optimist and is always looking for ways to learn, grow, and achieve the goals that are most important to them.  A person with an abundant mindset understands that a positive mindset is essential for their personal development.  They look at their experiences as growth and learning experiences.

When you make a point to think abundantly you are happier and more curious. Abundance helps you feel clear, confident and grateful.   

Abundant thinking means focusing on what you do have and the opportunities in front.   Abundant thinking is an attitude that increases appreciation and confidence.  Feelings of abundance also help you develop deeper relationships and set better goals. 

Abundant thinking is an attitude that helps you set a bigger vision and take action on a daily basis to achieve that vision.  When you think bigger you are more motivated, and take a pro-active approach to life.  This helps you plan for the future and appreciate everything you achieve in the process.

Abundance mindset vs scarcity mindset

Someone with an abundance mindset believes everything is abundant.  Abundant people have more time, feel grateful and have bigger opportunities. 

Someone with a scarcity mindset comes from a zero-sum mentality.  When you think with a scarcity mindset you believe there is a depletion of time, money, energy, and resources available.  You have the choice of developing a scarcity mindset or an abundance mindset.

A scarcity mindset can stop you from achieving your goals.  Someone with a scarcity mentality believes that there is not enough to go around.  They believe that everything necessary to create an abundant future is scarce. 

A scarcity mindset can make you feel envious, guilty, and angry. Having a scarcity mindset can leave you feeling overwhelmed, depressed, and paralysed.

An abundant mindset makes you feel happy, excited, motivated, and ready for action. 

How do you build an abundance mentality? 

Creating an abundance mentality means you can:

  • Grow without limitations or restrictions
  • See the world as full of opportunities
  • Have greater clarity and focus around your purpose 
  • Focus on gratitude despite the circumstances
  • Create faster growth rather than linear growth
  • Feel plentiful, creative, and inspired
  • Create memorable and meaningful life experiences

7 steps to develop an abundance mindset 

Here are 7 steps to develop an abundance mindset.  

1. Focus on gratitude to create an abundant life 

Someone with an abundance mindset practices gratitude.  They have an appreciation for what they have and are not envious of what others have.

Abundant mindset people don’t feel guilty about what they have or what others don’t have.  Instead, they focus on being happy with who they are and what they have.

People with an abundance mentality focus on their strengths and expand their gratitude.  They also express appreciation for the people they have in their life.

Abundant people make it a habit to look for the positives in any situation.  They look for learning experiences, rather than focusing on things that went wrong. 

2. Surround yourself with people who have an abundance mentality

Someone with an abundance mindset surrounds themselves with other abundance-minded people.  They seek out committed, self-aware people.  They also look for people who look for the positives in any experience.  

Abundant people look for others who can push them forward and cheer them on.  They also look for people to hold them accountable and celebrate achievements.

Someone with an abundance mentality looks for people that can upgrade their thinking. 

3. Create an abundant life

To create an abundant life, it’s important to create a vision of who you want to be in the future.  Goal setting gives your life direction, purpose and builds confidence.  Goals increase motivation and build excitement about your future.   

Having a clear vision increases feelings of abundance.  It also removes complexity and complication, which makes things seem simpler.  When you feel abundant, your vision acts as a guiding path.  It also helps you feel confident and capable to achieve that future vision.

4. Focus on your unique strengths

Having an abundance mentality means you focus on your unique strengths.  Instead of trying to improve weaknesses, you focus on your biggest capabilities. 

You understand the impact your thoughts and actions have on other people.  This gives you a sense of abundance.  It also ensures you feel like you’re progressing in the areas of your life that are most important to you.  

Abundance makes you feel anything is possible.  Feelings of abundance increase energy and creativity and help you feel more confident.  Someone with an abundance mindset is always moving forward positively.  They understand that their strengths give them a platform to grow faster.

5. Do more of what you love

Someone with an abundance mentality spends their time doing what they love to do.  This prepares them to capture bigger opportunities.  

Abundant people know that doing what they love to do is the fastest way to increased happiness.  Instead of doing things they don’t like, they focus on opportunities.  

Abundant-minded people focus on accomplishments and progress.  They get a better feeling about themselves by doing more of the activities they love to do. 

To ensure they spend more time doing what they love to do, abundance-minded people set their days up for success.  They identify their biggest priorities for the day.  They also spend their most valuable time working on them.

Additionally, they cut out anything that causes a scarcity mindset.   This helps abundance-minded people feel more positive and motivated.  This creates more meaningful experiences and confidence about their future life.
