Protecting and finding ways to be more confident are key capabilities for personal and business success.

Remember the last time you had self-confidence.  You may be feeling confident right now.

You may have felt confident yesterday, or the day before.

Or, like many entrepreneurs, your self-confidence may be up one day and down the next.

Self-confidence creates motivation

When you feel confident, you feel powerful.

That you can accomplish anything.

You feel that you can overcome obstacles easily.

But when your self-confidence levels are low, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated.

Doubts creep in.

You second guess yourself, and things just seem so much harder.

How to be more confident

When we feel self-confident you can transform fear, setbacks and obstacles into positive action and progress.

If you want to be more confident, here are 4 simple ways to increase self-confidence and self-esteem

1. Create an exciting vision of your bigger future

If you don’t know where you’re going, how do you know when you get there?

One of the simplest ways to be more confident is to get greater clarity and be more specific about your vision for the future of your business and life.

If you have no clear plan or path in front of you, it can be tough to know what next steps to take.

When you are clear on your bigger goals, you get clearer on what you want your future to look like.

You get clearer on how you want to feel and what you want to be doing.

This clarity gives you a burst of energy and self-confidence.

Creating a new vision, especially one that is a lot bigger than where you are right now, has a way of igniting your passion.

It may be something that feels hard to achieve, but every actionable step you take towards that bigger vision will certainly help you be more confident.

Commitment builds self-confidence

Commitment to this vision, and accomplishing continual daily progress depends on your ability to look at any situation you’re faced with or currently in, and see something bigger ahead.

When you know where you’re headed, you will instinctively start to see all the new opportunities and connections that will get you there.

Rather than being unsure what to do, you have self-confidence about your next step.

What does your ideal future look like?

Ask yourself, where would you like to be in three years.

Having this “future you” vision will give you the self-confidence to build the long-term and short-term framework, with supporting goals, to help you make this vision a reality.

2. Set 90 day goals to be more confident

You now have a clearer vision of your long-term ideal future.

If you’re committed to this vision, you’ll feel self-confident, energised and motivated.

The key is to ensure that you stay on track to achieve these goals, to maintain high levels of self-confidence.

Managing and juggling day to day projects can get in the way.

Dealing with problems can get in the way.

Staying on top of orders, managing cash flow and handling day to day stuff can move your ship off course.

You want to be productive and achieve your goals, but you also need to ensure the day to day runs smoothly.

How to set and achieve goals

One way to ensure you stay on track is to set short-term 90 Day Outcome Goals.

Continually achieving a small number of specific short-term goals helps you be more confident.

If you continually make progress every 90- days, this confidence multiplies, leading to feelings of being more confident.

People often set too many short-term goals that are really hard to achieve.

The result.

The goals aren’t achieved.

Confidence levels drop.

Doubts creep in.

It becomes difficult to move forward.

Make it easier on yourself to achieve your 90 day goals.

Set short-term goals

Try setting five specific measurable goals you want to achieve in the next 90 days.

Next, lay out three specific actions you can take right now to achieve those goals.

When you achieve those daily goals, rinse and repeat every day.

Your capability and confidence will grow every day.

3. Increase confidence by focusing on your capabilities

What makes you feel self-confident?

Which activities are you doing?

Who are you spending your time with?

Having clarity on where you feel more self-confident, gives you the framework to continually be more confident.

Write down what you are confident about

Take 5 minutes to write down all of the areas of your business and life where you currently feel confident.

These can be big or small.

They can be in both your business and personal life.

Now, that you have your list, write down your ten biggest self-confidence habits.

This list will help you maintain and increase self-confidence levels.

This exercise often highlights to people what their biggest strengths are.

When we are doing things we love to do, are passionate about with the people that mean the most we experience heightened levels of confidence.

Write down your biggest strengths

So, what are your biggest strengths?

Would you like to maximise these strengths and spend more time using them?

Many of us take on lots of activities in our business and life that we just aren’t confident about or really any good at.

But, in reality, as you will have seen from doing this exercise, there are only a small number of things that give us confidence, that we love to do.

Think about 5 things that you are great at and give you confidence.

Then, create a plan to spend more time doing those activities in the next 90 days.

4. Celebrate your progress to be more confident

Sometimes you just want to get through the day, right?

You have so much to do. There are so many things on your task list that you just complete what you can and then start another day.

But what would happen if at the end of each day you took some time out to look at what you’ve accomplished?

Celebrating success keeps you motivated and helps you to feel more confident.

If you really appreciate what you’ve achieved, however small everyday becomes not just another day.

There is real progress.

Every day there are things that happen that should be celebrated.

Celebrating achievements

If you’re struggling to feel motivated, try celebrating a couple of achievements each day.

Then do the same thing every day for the next seven days.

You will feel more self-confident and energised.

If you make it a habit to celebrate those small wins, you may then want to push yourself further and focus on achieving bigger wins.

Celebrating success combined with the gratitude you have for achieving those wins will make you feel more confident, and set you up for future days of confident achievement.

Confidence compounds confidence

Self-confidence is self-perpetuating if you are intentional about it.

The more self-confidence you have, the more you get.

Use these four simple strategies to be more confident every day.

By developing a few simple self-confidence habits, you can give yourself a feeling of certainty and an ability to take action on your goals and overcome the obstacles that will inevitably come up.
